Teacher profile

Who is Nancy Fraleigh?

She has been an educator for many years at the high school, middle school and college levels.  With degrees in history, English, sociology and education, she has had a well rounded career.  One of her favorite parts of teaching is extra-curricular activities.  She has coached academic decathlon, mock trial, model UN, public speaking and storytelling.  In fact, she is a professional storyteller herself.  Most recently she has begun to write those stories down, and is currently working on her first novel for middle schoolers.  She specializes in stories about strong, confident young women who engage in untraditional sports, like ice hockey, mountain climbing, etc.

Nancy has been married to Doug, a professor at CSU Fresno, for 25 years.  Their son, Douglas, is a Phd candidate in classics at UCLA, having just graduated from CAL Berkeley.  Their daughter, Whitney, is a sophmore at UMASS Boston, where she plays for the women's ice hockey team and majors in English. They also have an Alaskan husky named Kammi, and a Bichon Frise named Kodi.

The Fraleighs are an active group.  They love camping, hiking, backpacking, rock climbing and ice hockey.  Their favorite thing to do is to load up the back of the car and head up the Alaska highway.  They have driven all the way to Alaska 4 times.
